The United Nations General Assembly is one of the six principal organs of the United Nations. It is serving as its main deliberative, policy-making, and representative body. The UNGA has 193 member states. Each of whom has one vote. Emphasizing the principle of sovereign equality, each member state has equal votes regardless. No matter the size or power of the state.
The main function of UNGA is Deliberative. Which include peace and security, human rights, development, and international law. The second is Budgetary. Which include the power for approving the UN budget. Besides, it determines the financial assessments of member states. And the third is Elective Functions.
The General Assembly elect’s non-permanent members of the Security Council. Along with all members of the Social and Economic Council. Appointed by the Secretary General on the recommendation of the Security Council. Even the judges of the International Court of Justice are elected.
